2025 MBM Nominations Open Soon

Nominations for the 2025 Mary Beth Maddox Award and Lectureship will open August 1 through September 30, 2024. The award recognizes women scientists in Texas bringing new ideas and innovations to the fight against cancer.

The recipient will be recognized with a $5,000 honorarium and award and present their research at the TAMEST 2025 Annual Conference: Transformational Breakthroughs, February 4–6, 2025, at the Westin Irving Las Colinas in Irving, Texas. The nominee must have spent the last two years performing cancer research in Texas and be within 10 years of her first faculty appointment or 15 years from her first full-time industry-affiliated position.

In addition to being honored at the conference, the recipient will promote their work and discoveries across the state at established lecture and seminar series at TAMEST member institutions with NIH National Cancer Institute Designated Cancer Centers:

The award covers the recipient’s travel and lodging for the lectures and includes organized visits and networking at the NCI Cancer Centers. An $1,000 stipend is also provided to the recipient to provide childcare while traveling for the lecture series.

Qualified nominators include TAMEST Members, university presidents, chancellors, deans, provosts, vice presidents for research, and past Mary Beth Maddox, Edith and Peter O’Donnell Awards and Hill Prizes recipients. Multiple nominations from a single institution or organization are allowed.
