2007 O’Donnell Award recipients Zhijian “James” Chen, David J. Mangelsdorf and Antonios Mikos.
The 2007 O’Donnell Award recipients include: medicine awardee Dr. David Mangelsdorf for his work on orphan nuclear receptors leading to landmark discoveries of how regulatory pathways govern cholesterol, lipid and bile acid homeostasis; engineering awardee Dr. Antonios Mikos for his insightful application of chemical engineering principles to biomolecular engineering as exemplified by pioneering contributions to tissue engineering, biomaterials science and more; and science awardee Dr. Zhijian “James” Chen for his discovery of the novel role of ubiquitin in regulating protein kinases and other biological activities, and the discovery of a new role of mitochondria in immune responses.
