Terrence Henry Named Executive Director of TAMEST

TAMEST’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Terrence Henry as its new executive director, effective February 1, 2019.

Terrence will serve as TAMEST’s chief executive officer, responsible for overall operations and administration of our organization, including developing and implementing strategic initiatives aligned with TAMEST’s mission. He succeeds Mary Beth Maddox in this role, who served as TAMEST Executive Director from 2013 until her passing in August 2018.

Terrence has extensive experience developing and managing strategic initiatives and events, leading communications and directing outreach in the field of science and research. He is currently director of communications for TAMEST and has worked for our organization since 2015. Prior to joining TAMEST, Terrence was an award-winning journalist specializing in science and policy reporting. He earned his degree in international relations from Brigham Young University and has worked at The University of Texas at Austin for over seven years.

The TAMEST board would like to thank our search committee, led by 2019 Board Vice President David Daniel and including 2019 Board President Amelie Ramirez, 2018 Board President Gordon England and Past President Ken Arnold for their time and dedication selecting the right person for this role.

The board also thanks Christine McCoy for serving as interim executive director during the transition. Christine has served a crucial role leading the organization during a challenging period, and the board sincerely appreciates all she has done.
