TAMEST to Hold 20th Anniversary Reception Next Week in Dallas

Pegasus Park Event

Next week, TAMEST will gather its members, research institution leaders and others from the research community in the region to attend a special 20th Anniversary Reception and networking event at Pegasus Park in Dallas. The event will take place on Tuesday, September 3, from 5–7:30 p.m.

The evening will feature an on-stage conversation with Former United States Senator The Honorable Kay Bailey Hutchison, TAMEST Board President Brendan Lee, M.D., Ph.D. (NAM), Baylor College of Medicine and UT Southwestern Medical Center President Daniel K. Podolsky, M.D. (NAM), commemorating the 20th anniversary of TAMEST.

“Since our founding 20 years ago, more than 300 TAMEST members have been inducted into the National Academies or recruited to Texas and we’ve gone from three to 11 Carnegie R1 research universities,” said Dr. Lee. “Our society has truly helped facilitate growth in our state’s research community through not only increasing our membership but highlighting rising talent through our programs and initiatives like our protégé and Edith and Peter O’Donnell Awards programs as well. I’m proud to be the first past O’Donnell recipient to become president of TAMEST but am also confident I will not be the last.”

TAMEST started in 2004 with 166 members and has grown to nearly 350 members today. Dr. Lee will interview Sen. Hutchison and Dr. Podolsky at the event about the creation of TAMEST and its growth and impact over the last 20 years.

The cocktail reception will begin at 5 p.m. and the on-stage conversation will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The event is free to attend, but RSVPs are required. Parking for the event will be complimentary.

TAMEST 20th Anniversary Reception will take place on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, 5:00–7:30 p.m. at Pegasus Park (3000 Pegasus Park Dr., Dallas, Texas 75247).
