Manor New Technology High School

Manor New Tech, built on the New Technology Network model of project-based learning, is strikingly different from what is found in traditional secondary education classroom settings. Manor New Tech’s student population is made up of applicants accepted through a blind lottery. As a result, the student population at Manor New Tech is diverse in all aspects. Additionally, the project-based learning environment sets up an atmosphere where learning is student-driven, engaging, and meets the needs of a wide variety of academic abilities.

Manor New Tech’s FIRST Robotics team, FRC 2789: Team TEXplosion earned the privilege to compete in the FIRST Robotics Championship Event in April 2013 in St. Louis, Missouri. In the past five years, TEXplosion has received Entrepreneurship Awards at the Chesapeake Regional Competition in 2011 and the Utah Regional Competition in 2012. Despite complications with their primary materials sponsor and the subsequent redesigning of their robot, they made it to finals for the first time in team history in their first competition of this season at the Hub City Regional in Lubbock. Furthermore, the team appeared for the first time in the winner’s circle at both the Lone Star Regional in Houston and the Alamo Regional in San Antonio. This year’s sponsors included Samsung, NASA, ThorLabs, Dell, The Texas Workforce Commission, Dwyer Realty, FIRST in Texas, Manor ISD, and Manor New Tech High School.
